Created by practitioners for practitioners, this course is taught by instructors with over 20 years of hands-on experience in the field. Whether you're new to the field or have been learning on the job without formal training, this course meets you where you are, giving new analysts the knowledge and techniques to build on, while allowing experienced practitioners to review, reinforce, and renew their legislative knowledge.
You'll cover the core concepts that anchor the privacy and access to information practice: legislative requirements for a valid, complete request, request classification, custody and control issues, transfers and consultations, and the legislative structure and governance behind the why, what, and who of the legislation. Discussions will also focus on recent changes to the legislation and their application. You'll also learn how to interpret legislation for proper application, document decisions that hold up on appeal, and apply analytical thinking to real case scenarios, moving from legislative knowledge to confident, practical application.
